What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is simply a natural state of relaxation that we all experience during daydreaming, falling asleep, reading a good book, and "automatic" driving when we suddenly realise that we haven't been aware of driving for the last ten minutes or so. During this state our conscious mind (the analytical, decision making part) relaxes, thereby allowing access to the subconscious mind (our automatic part which controls our emotions, urges, imagination, experiences and memories. We all experience hypnosis naturally. Psychologists call this relaxed state of mind, the "alpha state" after the type of brainwaves that are produced when this occurs. A Hypnotist is trained to be able to bring a person into this natural state of relaxation.

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis. A hypnotherapist can induce this natural state to treat symptoms and problems. Once a person has been hypnotised, a hypnotherapist will use a range of techniques such as positive suggestion and visualisations to retrain their subconscious responses. At Hypnotic Health, Paul also uses more advanced methods such as Analytical Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques to bring about positive changes in peoples lives very quickly.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was created back in the early 1970's by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. NLP consists in a variety of different techniques which can create a positive change in one's behaviour. NLP techniques are often used in conjunction with Hypnotherapy, but can also be used on their own.
